How he proposed: Jeremy proposed after helping Alison move into her dorm her senior year of college.

THE CEREMONY
The ceremony: Written by the couple with help from the officiant, it reflected their personal sense of humor and contained many “nerdy” references.
The gown: Ivory with a sweetheart neck and straps; A-line with intricate beading on the bodice and train.
The bouquet: Hand-crafted, paper origami flowers, using sheet music from the “Phantom of the Opera,” with red paint and black buttons.
The theme: “Phantom of the Opera.” Everyone wore masks for the ceremony. One of the couple’s first dates was to see “Phantom of the Opera” in Chicago.

The cake: A small cake for cutting, but mostly vanilla and chocolate cupcakes. The cake topper was made by the bride.
First song: “Far Away” by Nickelback.
The menu: A buffet consisting of something for every dietary need — some gluten free and vegetarian options were included — vegetable platter, pasta, chicken, roast beef, and much more.
What made the day unique: The wedding reflected who they are as a couple; they do not take themselves too seriously and laughed their way through the ceremony.
Most touching moment of the day: After the ceremony, the couple visited the grave of her mother and placed a bouquet of dark red roses on her grave. Karen Myers died a month before the couple married.
Honeymoon destination: Williamsburg, Va.
